The thing about ghosts and paranormal phenomena is that people either believe - or not.  That is, until something supernatural occurs that just can't be denied.  Some non-believers immediately become converts.  Others remain skeptical, but may harbor a nagging trace of doubt. 

When it comes to reports of "real" spirit sightings or haunted happenings, I am not a fan of sensationalism.  Like most believers, I have had my own experiences and am always amazed by the others I meet who have had one (or more) too.  Throughout my travels, people from all walks of life, income levels, and spiritual (or not ) beliefs have shared their experiences.  This includes North Carolina, which - to my delight - turned out to be quite a spooky state!

The locations listed in this section (will be updated regularly) are not here because of one unexplained sighting or occurrence.  Each site has had numerous reports of paranormal activity over the years.  This list features activity that is reported most often, although other things have also transpired.

*Most of the ghostly phenomenon appears to be residual hauntings, glimpses or  sounds of spirits going about their regular routine in life.  Other hauntings  reported involve intelligent hauntings where an entity interacts in some way with the living.
